Music Ministry

Singing is one of the ways Christ is present and active in the community. When you sing, it engages the mind, body, spirit and voice as described in this GRIM quotes of sayings of St. Augustine:

"Singing is for one who loves."   "One who sings well, prays twice."

The goal of the choir is to encourage full, conscious and active participation of the assembly in singing and responding throughout the Liturgical celebration. The choir also enhances worship with inspirational song and instrumentation. The goals for the children's choir offer them to experience the Liturgical year through music; develop his/her singing voice; learn to sing accurately; use singing for worship; learn to read music notation; and learn Catholic hymns.

The post-Vatican II vision encourages choirs to perform beautiful music as a stimulus to the assembly's prayer, and yet, more importantly, today's choir must support, encourage and nurture the active participation of all. The choir is a warm, caring group of people who love, welcome and serve one another first. Such an attitude encourages accountablity to the group, a cordial attitude to new-comers and better singing.
